Résumé

Au sortir de la guerre le dilemme du jeune orphelin Aharon Appelfeld est déchirant : continuer à parler l’allemand, cette langue des bourreaux, ou la laisser s’éteindre et perdre ainsi sa mère une seconde fois puisqu’il s’agit de sa langue maternelle. Par le truchement du yiddish, il parvient à l’hébreu qu’il va adopter comme nouvelle langue maternelle et qu’il va forger selon son propre langage intérieur. Ainsi va naître l’hébreu d’Aharon Appelfeld, une langue à la fois sculpture et musique.

Abstract

At the end of the Second World War, the dilemma of the young orphan Aharon Appelfeld is heartrending: to continue speaking German, language of the tormentors, or to let it vanish and so to loose his mother for a second time, as German is his mother tongue. Through Yiddish, he comes to Hebrew which he adopts as a new mother tongue and which he moulds according to his own inner language. So is born Aharon Appelfeld’s Hebrew, a language all together sculpture and music.
