La retraduction des Écrits de Jacques Lacan au Brésil

Résumé

Entre 1978 et 1998 deux traductions des Écrits ont été publiées au Brésil. La première, partielle, contenait dix chapitres choisis par Jacques Lacan lui-même; la seconde, faite avec la supervision d’analystes, était complète. Elle intégrait la collection Campo freudiano no Brasil, aux éditions Zahar. Le propos de notre essai est d’une part d’apprécier les deux versions à l’aide d’exemples tirés de « L’instance de la lettre dans l’inconscient » en ce que ce chapitre pose un problème crucial à la traduction en portugais : la question des pronoms personnels, soit la question du sujet de la psychanalyse. La question du style de Jacques Lacan est aussi soulevée. En vingt ans, le texte portugais est devenu « lisible », alors que les deux traductions se proposent comme plutôt littérales, démontrant ainsi que la psychanalyse a fait sa place au Brésil.

Abstract

Between 1978 and 1998 two translations of the Écrits of Jacques Lacan were published in Brazil. The first one, partial, included ten chapters chosen by Jacques Lacan himself, the second was realised under the supervision of psychoanalysts, and it was complete. It incorporated the collection Campo freudiano no Brasil, published by Zahar Publishing. This paper aims to value the two versions using examples from “L’instance de la lettre dans l’inconscient” for this chapter poses a crucial problem for the Portuguese translation : the translation of the personal pronouns, i.e. the question of the subject of psychoanalysis. The matter of Jacques Lacan’s style is also raised. In twenty years, the Portuguese text has become “readable”, while the two translations intend to be rather literal, demonstrating that psychoanalysis has gained ground in Brazil.
